Fueling Your Camping Adventures

Fueling Your Camping Adventures

Tis the season for camping! What a great way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature. No matter if you prefer to backpack or use a camper, fueling is important no matter what! But it can be a challenge to pack healthy snacks that will keep you energized and satisfied.

Here are some tips for packing healthy snacks for camping:

  • Choose snacks that are high in protein and fiber. This will help you feel full and satisfied, and they will also give you the energy you need to stay active while you're camping. Some good options include nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, beef jerky, and whole-grain crackers.

  • Limit sugary snacks. Sugary snacks will give you a quick energy boost, but they will also leave you feeling tired and sluggish later on. Instead, opt for snacks that are lower in sugar and higher in nutrients.

  • Pack enough. It may be tempting to pack the bare minimum so there is less to haul, but it is important to make sure you have adequate nutrition to stay fueled. Plan for at least two carbohydrates and two protein-rich snacks per person per day.

Consider some of these ideas for your next camping adventure:

  • Whole pieces of fruit

  • Trail mix

  • Nuts and seeds

  • Whole grain crackers

  • Granola bars or protein bites

  • Carrots, celery, bell peppers, cucumbers

  • Beef jerky

  • Pretzels

  • Bagels, English muffins

Have fun in the outdoors and be sure to fuel up for your next adventure. See you on the trails!
